Ottawa’s Winterlude and Valentine’s Day inspire this program of music for violin and strings. Featured violinist Timothy Chooi, whose debut performance with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra at age 16 catapulted him onto the global stage, leads the orchestra.
Amplifying the winter themes is the artwork of Ottawa artist Bernard Poulin, local and global award-winning international painter of official, corporate and private portraits as well as sculptor, muralist, and author. His winter-scape serves as the background to the header. A few of his works will be projected on screen during this concert celebrating winter, Ottawa and Valentine’s Day. The program includes:
John Corigliano – Caprice pour violon seul (Le Violon Rouge)
S. Bach – Air
Chan Ka Nin – Soulmate
Caroline Shaw – Entr’acte
Fritz Kreisler – Tambourin Chinois
Fritz Kreisler – Liebesfreud
Antonio Vivaldi – L’Hiver (tiré de Les Quatre Saisons)
Edward Elgar Salut D’amour
Astor Piazzolla – Por Una Cabeza
