Today, Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced Ottawa as the successful host city of the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship (to take place December 26, 2024-January 5, 2025).

The successful bid represents a partnership between the Ottawa Senators, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG), Ottawa Tourism, Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), the City of Ottawa and the Province of Ontario. Host venues Canadian Tire Centre and TD Place Arena will welcome spectators from around the world over the course of the event, which will produce significant economic impact for the region. Ottawa last hosted the World Juniors in 2009.

We recognize our incredible staff and the bid committee who were involved with the creation of this bid, bringing together partners from across the city and successfully making a case for why Ottawa is the best place for this prestigious global event. From Ottawa Tourism, a big thank you to Lesley Pincombe, Vice President, Meetings & Major Events, and Robert Kawamoto, Assistant Director, Major Events & Sport for their role in the success of this bid.

We encourage members to amplify this good news on social media using #MyOttawa/#MonOttawa and follow along with @HockeyCanada on social media for more updates. This is our chance to show off our destination on the world stage and showcase Ottawa as a premier hosting destination. There will be opportunities for members to be involved, stay tuned for more!
