After a deep dive into the particulars of the $1-billion electric bus project started by their predecessors, members of Ottawa city council’s transit commission voted Friday to continue on this path to transform OC Transpo’s diesel fleet.
It was an additional layer of scrutiny proposed earlier this week by one of council’s newly elected members.
“I believe strongly you need to measure twice, cut once, and that’s exactly what we did,” Barrhaven West Coun. David Hill said Friday.
Hill secured the support of a majority of council colleagues to have the extra public meeting to consider the e-bus decision that had initially been brought directly to council for a vote.
