Barnsdale-416 Interchange Project

Updated: Jul 5

"The Barnsdale Interchange announcement is huge news for Barrhaven! Better residential access is critical to our continued growth, and this will unlock significant economic opportunity in South Ottawa."

What is the Barnsdale-416 Interchange Project?

The project seeks to install a 416 interchange at Barnsdale road, connecting commuters of Half Moon Bay, Quinn's Pointe, and Stonebridge with a key road infrastructure in Ottawa.

Currently, the only interchange in Barrhaven is at Fallowfield road. Other comparable suburban areas in Ottawa, like Kanata and Orleans, have multiple interchanges.

Who's involved?

The Government of Ontario maintains the highway infrastructure, therefore it naturally their project and will be funded and constructed through the province.

However, there have been numerous stakeholders involved at the municipal and provincial level in order to advocate for this at Queen's Park.

I’m extremely proud that my office was able to coordinate a significant partner push to showcase that this important project needed funding NOW to get building.
