Over the last few decades, Barrhaven has had tremendous growth, but we need the roads and bridges to get people to and from where they need to go.
As your councillor, I will continue to fight to get the Greenbank realignment sped up. Another decade of waiting is far too long. I will also work with the Provincial Government to get another highway on-ramp at Barnsdale road, and I will build the parks, and community spaces that make Barrhaven an amazing place to raise a family.
Read more about how I will work to build the Barrhaven we need.
I have spent the last year knocking on doors all over Barrhaven, and time and time again, I have heard the same issues. People have told me that our community needs better roads and bridges, more reliable transit, and improved community safety. The rising cost of living is hurting a lot, and families cannot shoulder drastic tax increases to fund pie in the sky promises.
I can relate to these concerns, because, as a Barrhaven resident, I live them myself.
I will be unveiling an exciting platform with my vision of how, together we can address these issues and build a better Barrhaven.
I hope I can count on your support in this journey and your vote come October 24th, 2022.
David Hill is running to be the next City Councillor for Ward 3 – Barrhaven West because he sees a need for strong and dedicated leadership to guide our growing community of Barrhaven forward.
David has spent his whole life centred around the concept of service before self, including for the last 25 years as an infantry officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Originally from Saskatchewan, David’s military career saw him move all over Canada and deploy internationally to faraway places such as Afghanistan, Haiti, and Lebanon. David got to experience Canada and travel the world but fell in love with Ottawa and the community of Barrhaven, where he currently lives with his wife Tammie, two daughters, McKenna and Casey and their orange tabby cat Max.
An active member of the Barrhaven community, David currently sits on the board of the Barrhaven United Church and the West Barrhaven Community Association. In the winter, David can be found maintaining the outdoor community rink at Fosterbook park. David is also a member of the Ottawa Veterans Tasks Force and sees his role as helping grow the entrepreneurial spirit among Canadian veterans and CAF service members transitioning into civilian life.
In the fall of 2021, David was happily serving as a Lieutenant Colonel at National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ), advising the Federal government on United Nations and crisis operations, when he heard that long-time City Councillor Jan Harder would not be running in the upcoming 2022 municipal election. Together with his wife Tammie, David, concluded that now was time for a change. This next stage in his life would still be centred on the principle of service before self, but this time in the benefit of the community of Barrhaven as their City Councillor.
Build Barrhaven. Better Transit. Improve Community Safety. Keep Taxes Low.
